Listers score goals, to raise over £750.00 for Sports Relief
Picture this; a man, you can only just make out the red war paint stripped across his face because its hidden behind a red tinsel fringe, he’s got a pink floral skirt flowing down to his knees. A woman; dressed in sports attire, you can just see her red polka dot shorts peeking from under her football skirt; They stand smiling face to face, there is nothing between them but a football.
Men in skirts? Woman playing football? Is there anything Listers won’t do to raise money for charity?
This is not exactly how you’d expect to see the Listers staff dressed. However, the usually suited and booted team got dressed down last week, for a sponsored football match to raise more than £750.00 for sports relief 2010. Sports relief is part of the comic relief charity, which helps both at home in the U.K. and some of the poorest countries in the world.
The team had spent weeks organising the event; the outfits had been carefully designed to the last detail. The staff and customers we’re asked to donate generously to the needy cause. They had a fantastic response from both suppliers and customers. R D Wild donated £50.00 and Paddock Fabrications donated an amazing £100.00. It was these kind donations, along with dozens of other generous donations that ensured they could raise over £700.00.
The highly competitive and very funny match took place on Wednesday 17th March and was watched by dozens of anxious friends and family who were worried that boys might trip over their skirts or the girls would just be to ferocious! After a very tight match “Listers Lethal Weapons” team snatched victory in the final moments with an end score of 9-6.
The charity match raised a whopping £700.00, and the staff brought in extra funds from other activities to boost the total raised to over £750.00. This was a fantastic reward for their efforts.
Who know that having so much fun could raise so much money? Then again who knew the guys would look so good in skirts!
