Listers are Making Their Move
Mark Warren was typically upbeat about the move. As Managing Director of one of the few industry manufacturers to make large capital investments in their company through difficult times, he’s looking forward to raising the company’s standard still further. “Leek Road has served us well for 17 years,” he said, “But not only have we outgrown it, our customers have too.”
When Listers opened the site in 1992 there was plenty of parking space, and traffic levels meant getting in and out were no problem. “Nowadays we’re serving dozens of customers every day. Every morning sees the car park packed with installers’ vans, and with around 5000 lines on sale, we’re running out of space behind the counter as well as in front of it.”
The new larger site on Govan Road, Fenton, has parking space for over 30 vehicles. A bespoke glass frontage is under construction, and the customer trade area has clear access and space for growth. A new multimedia point-of-sale system will keep visitors informed and entertained, and – one thing that won’t change – there are plentiful bacon rolls and hot drinks to get installers’ days off to a good start.
“The new trade counter is just the start of this year’s development programme.” Mark told us, “We’re already working on a superb showroom that installers can use to welcome their own customers, and there’s a lot more that we’ll be announcing later in the year.”
In times of recession retaining customer loyalty is vital and Listers are certainly demonstrating that they are committed to improving their customer’s experience and support.
The tee-shirts proudly sported by the Leek Road counter staff sum up their view of the move. “May 5th,” they proclaim, “We can’t wait.”
