Why Listers is partnering with Ring20
At Lister’s Windows and Doors, we believe business is about more than what we build; it’s about what we stand for. The choices we make, the people we support, and the impact we have beyond our day-to-day work matter.

That belief is what led us to partner with Ring20 Research and Support UK.
Ring Chromosome 20 syndrome, r(20), is a rare genetic condition that causes epilepsy, often beginning in early childhood. Across the globe, only around 200 people currently have been reported in the medical literature, though experts believe many more may be living with the condition without knowing it. Diagnosis can take years, awareness is limited, and families are often left navigating an unfamiliar and isolating path.
For us, this cause isn’t abstract. It’s personal.
A story that changed everything.
One of our colleagues has a daughter, Lily, who lives with r(20) syndrome. Lily is bright, determined, and full of life, and she has become the heart of why this partnership matters so deeply to us.
Supporting Ring20 means supporting children like Lily and families like hers. It means raising awareness of a condition that too often goes unseen and making sure families feel supported, informed, and understood.
Our commitment didn’t start this year.
In 2025, our Managing Director, Steve Gardiner, took on the challenge of Ironman Mallorca. While training for and completing the event, Steve set up a fundraising initiative in support of Lily. Thanks to the generosity of our wider community, that challenge raised £12,000 – a powerful reminder of what’s possible when people come together with purpose.
That experience shaped our thinking. It showed us that real impact comes from action, not intention alone.
Our commitment going forward.
As we move into 2026, our partnership with Ring20 is built around three clear goals:
- Raising awareness of Ring20 syndrome, helping more people understand what it is and why early recognition matters.
- Supporting research and fundraising, enabling Ring20 to continue its vital work for families across the UK.
- Helping make Lily’s biggest dream a reality, using our platform, our people, and our community to support what matters most to her.
Small actions. Real impact.
There are many ways to help, of course – and some take just seconds!

One simple example is nominating Ring20 in initiatives such as the Movement for Good Awards, where enough nominations could result in £1,000 of funding for the charity. Follow the link, nominate Ring20 – make something amazing under 1 minute!
Small actions like these create momentum… and momentum creates change.
At Lister’s, we’re proud to partner with Ring20 and to continue building a future where rare conditions aren’t invisible, families aren’t isolated, and children like Lily are supported every step of the way. If you would like to donate for Lily please see our page here.
This is about people.
This is about purpose.
And this is just the beginning.
