Listers. Party Central
Lister Trade Frames have long since been a company associated with hard work, industry awards and innovation. But behind the scenes there beats a business where the core principle is looking after its staff. This was recognised when Listers recently picked up the Employer of the Year award at the recent Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
Further evidence (if any was needed) that Listers know how to treat their employees was evident at Listers Big Bash Family Day. Converting the car park into one big fairground and a hog roast taking centre stage, Listers opened the doors and welcomed all of their staff along with their families.
“We wanted to really go overboard with the festivities,” commented Listers MD, Mark Warren “and we made sure that there was something for everybody to enjoy, including the staff, their partners and their children.”Wandering around the tented areas, the party goers were presented with fairground attractions such as, coconut shies, photo booths, bucking broncos, arcade games and of course a fantastic hog roast and gourmet sausage spread. But the fun didn’t stop with attractions only. Topping the bill was the well renowned local band, Matrix Club Matrix, who performed two sets of their music to a packed out dance floor.
“It was a great move to hire Matrix Club Matrix,” said event organiser and HR Director Derrith Turner, “as their style of music really got people up and dancing. And with all of the other entertainment, we had a fantastic evening enjoyed by all.”
And the celebrations didn’t stop there. Rumours had been spreading that a guest appearance by a celebrity was on the cards but the details of the individual had been a closely guarded secret. As the night rolled on, from the darkness walked in the one and only X Factor legend, Wagner! Complete with backing CD, Wagner performed 4 songs live to a stunned but highly enthusiastic crowd and really got into the spirit of things.
“To say it was surreal, would be an understatement,” said Mark Warren, “but Listers are known for being a little different and Wagner was the cherry on an already very well iced cake”.
In nearly 40 years of trading, Listers have worked hard to make sure they have a happy workforce and throwing the Listers Big Bash Family Day just reaffirmed their commitment to their team. And what was even more evident was the fact that the staff brought their families with them highlighting that Listers tries its best be a family oriented business.
The only problem Listers face now, is coming up with ideas to top the Big Bash, but as Derrith Turner remarked, “that’s where the fun starts!”
