Listers – All Out for 2010
Friday the 21st January saw a mass walk out at Lister Trade Frames, Stoke on Trent. Fortunately, it was just a special early closing so that the whole workforce could attend a celebration meal at a local restaurant.
All of Listers’ employees were invited by the Directors to a slap-up meal and drinks to recognise their hard work in accomplishing two outstanding successes in 2010: Firstly, Listers’ landmark achievement of winning the national Fabricator of the Year Award for a second time, and secondly, for achieving record sales figures for the year ending 2010.
Listers’ Chairman and founder, Rod Lister, headed up the event and was pleased to see such a great turnout. Rod said that 2010 has been an excellent year for the business and this event was organised to show their appreciation to all the staff.
Listers won the Fabricator of Year award for the first time back in 2005. Since then, they have been finalists and winners of the G-Awards every year, which may be a record in itself and winning the top award for a second time, moved them to do something extra special for their staff.
As for a record sales year; Listers have just reported unprecedented growth with an increase of some £1.2Million over 2009 results. They say that there were a number of factors which contributed to this, including a huge 60% increase in conservatory sales and building plastics due to a very focussed campaign. However, it was ultimately the growth of their customer base with over £500,000 being added by new customers.
Phil Warren, Listers’ Sales Director, said that the results were “very pleasing especially when considering that 2010 had been very competitive as a result of the difficult economic climate. We actually saw sales reflecting our previous high before the recession hit in 2007 and our profits remain strong underpinning our investment plans for this coming year.”
2011 will no doubt be another tough year for everyone and Lister Trade Frames say that they are up for the challenge; “We have some of the best products on the market in windows, conservatories and plastic building materials.” Phil says, “We also have a number of new launches planned throughout the year. But perhaps the most important reason for our continuing confidence and successes is our people! We really have got an excellent team and we all work together to keep the company moving forward.”
There is no doubt that to keep on receiving awards and accolades each year, Listers have to be doing something special. And it’s good to see that their Directors and Chairman really do appreciate their people and what they do to produce Listers’ continued success.
